Cooking classes with a musical twist!
You can learn to create exciting meals, while being entertained with wine, new friends, and musical comedy.
New York chef and award-winning composer Lawrence Rush introduces a new series of unique cooking classes in Manhattan: “Cooking A Cappella”. Beginning in January 2014, lucky New Yorkers can experience weekly cheese tastings and exciting culinary lessons for beginners or advanced cooks.

A tale of two loves: “My love for food has led me to some wonderful opportunities: working as a private chef, caterer, cheesemonger, being the pastry chef at New York City restaurants,” said Lawrence Rush, teacher and owner of Cooking A Cappella. “But singing, performing and composing music have always been my main focus. Now, I want to bring my two loves together! And that is what Cooking A Cappella is all about: bringing food and music together, teaching people to cook wonderful meals while being entertained with the community- building, healing benefits of singing.”
The classes are small and hands-on, so students will receive personal attention and will take part in the preparation of all of the food. Classes will end with a communal meal where everyone will dine on the fruits of their labors, paired with the perfect wine.
Exciting, fun and informative classes, such as “The Cheeses of France’s Loire Valley”, “Schnitzel, Spaetzle and Strudel”, “Pasta making”, “A French Country Meal” and “Showstopper Desserts”. Every week, there is a cheese class, where we learn about, classify and taste cheeses from different areas of the world. Other classes will focus on the world’s many wonderful cuisines and the techniques needed to make dozens of special dishes. In addition, you’ll learn about and work with unique, more obscure ingredients that will lift your meals out of the ordinary.
